China more of a partner than a rival: Laschet, German chancellor in waiting

Germany will try to ensure that European Union mends fences with China.  Armin Laschet, frontrunner to become German chancellor after Angela Markel, said that the EU is best served by cooperation with Beijing.  The leader of centre-right Christian Democratic Union, Laschet advocated that he will try to foster partnership with Beijing wherever possible.
