There were no tears gas shells with the Railway Protection Force ! The starting revelation came to light after arsonists set fire to several railway coaches.

Video footages obtained by senior IPS officers investigating the cases of arsonists mentioned that RPF personnel watched from the sidelines as agitators set railway properties on fire during agnipath agitation.

"We moved the proposal and after a series of meetings with railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and union home ministry, tear gas components have been alloted to RPF. We will shortly be having them and I have asked my officers to draw up a training programme to educate men on how to use tear gas shells," director General of RPF, Sanjay Chander told ANM News.

RPF personnel at the ground has been directed to gather intelligence about any possible incidents of arson and agitation and take action if there is any threat to railway property. Senior RPF officers have been instructed to rush to the spot if situation arises.
