Ranchi, Jharkhand: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sharply criticized the Jharkhand government led by the JMM and Congress for not honoring their earlier promises regarding financial assistance for household stove expenses. In a recent statement, Chouhan highlighted that the alliance government had pledged Rs. 2,000 per month for 'Chulha kharchi' (stove expenses) but failed to deliver on this promise for nearly five years.

“Five years ago, the JMM-Congress alliance promised Rs. 2,000 per month for stove expenses, but they did not provide it for 4 years and 10 months,” Chouhan said. He accused the government of attempting to capitalize on the upcoming elections by offering a reduced amount of Rs. 1,000 per month in the eleventh hour. “Now, in the eleventh month of the fourth year, they are trying to trap voters by offering Rs. 1,000 per month,” Chouhan added.

Chouhan argued that the government should first address the outstanding payments owed to the beneficiaries before making new promises. “They should clear the pending amount before making any new offers,” he asserted. His comments reflect ongoing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s handling of welfare promises and electoral strategy.

The criticism comes amid heightened political activity as elections approach, with parties seeking to address past grievances and appeal to voters with new commitments.
