By A Staff Reporter: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, speaking in Bengaluru, demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. Karandlaje criticized Banerjee for remaining silent for three to four days after the incident, which, she claimed, emboldened the criminals involved.
"This case is very sad. The Criminal Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament, but many states did not implement it. At the time of the Sandeshkhali incident, Mamata Banerjee should have fought against it, but she supported the criminals. This emboldened people to commit such incidents in the college," Karandlaje remarked.
She further emphasized that justice must be served and pointed out that the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) only after the court intervened. Karandlaje called for Banerjee to step down as Chief Minister, urging for accountability and justice in the case.
