New Delhi: New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon addressed the inauguration of the Raisina Dialogue in Delhi, where he praised India's global leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi while also acknowledging the friendly cricket rivalry between the two nations.
"During PM Modi's tenure, the men in blue (Indian cricket team) have been the most dominant side in cricket, most recently winning the Champions Trophy in Dubai against my men in black (New Zealand cricket team). They broke many New Zealanders' hearts in the process, including mine. I will be the bigger person and just say congratulations," Luxon said, drawing laughter from the audience.
Shifting focus to the significance of the Raisina Dialogue, Luxon underscored the importance of global strategic cooperation, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
"Among this catalogue of achievements is the reason that we are gathered here today. Raisina Dialogue is a forum that provides a moment every year to leaders from across the world to focus their collective mind on the contemporary strategic challenges being navigated right here in the Indian Ocean," he said.
