TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO 44TH IN THE WORLD FOR COVID-19 DEATHS

By a Staff Reporter: Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr Keith Rowley has dismissed reports of the country having the highest covid-19 deaths per capita in the world.

Responding to questions from Member of Parliament for Naparima Rodney Charles in parliament on Monday, Dr Rowley said Trinidad and Tobago does in fact have one of the highest rates of non communicable diseases in CARICOM and not deaths. He explained that their case fatality rate is at 2.98 placing them 44th in the world.

He added that with their demographic profile being entirely different from the rest of CARICOM, data on deaths per capita will be gathered a bit differently.

According to Prime Minister Dr. Rowley, covid-19 infections spikes and deaths have been varying and as such, government will continue its fight.
