By a staff reporter :The Border Security Force troops under the South Bengal Frontier seized various contraband items worth five lakhs in separate incidents in the border areas of district Nadia and North 24 Parganas. However, the smugglers involved in them managed to escape.
In a statement issued by the Border Security Force, it was stated that in four separate incidents, the troops of 107 Battalion Border Out Post Mustafapur seized 12 poly bags of fish seeds whose estimated cost is Rs. 03 lakh. And the troops of Border Out Post Sutia's seized Liquor worth Rs 4.5 thousand. In another incident, troops of 08 Battalion Border Out Post Hazrakhal confiscated Marlboro Gold cigarettes worth 1.82 lakhs in a special ambush in their area, however the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of the dense darkness and banana plantations. Apart from this, the soldiers of 82 Battalion, Mahkhola, seized Phensedyl and welcyrex worth 21 thousand during the patrol that during this time the smugglers escaped from the spot. The confiscated contraband items will be handed over to the concerned police station and customs department for further action.
Border security forces are taking stringent steps to prevent smuggling of various types of goods along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which smugglers and touts are facing difficulties and some of them are being caught and punished according to the law.
