NEW DELHI: Rashtrapati Bhavan hosted ‘Purple Fest,’ a vibrant celebration of the talents, achievements, and aspirations of divyangjan (persons with disabilities), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

President Droupadi Murmu graced the occasion and witnessed enthralling cultural performances by divyangjan, highlighting their artistic and creative excellence. Addressing the gathering, she emphasized the importance of sensitivity towards marginalized sections, stating, “The degree of sensitivity towards deprived classes determines the progress of a country or society.”

She further underscored that compassion, inclusiveness, and harmony have been integral to Indian culture and civilization. “Belief in inclusivity has been the norm in our tradition, and we must continue to foster an environment where every individual, regardless of ability, is empowered to contribute to society,” she added.

The fest showcased diverse performances, exhibitions, and discussions aimed at promoting equal opportunities for divyangjan. It also reinforced the government’s commitment to creating an accessible and inclusive society.

The event drew participation from government officials, social activists, and organizations working in the disability sector. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment reaffirmed its dedication to policies and initiatives that enhance the quality of life and independence of divyangjan.
