Heritage Group of Institutions Celebrated International Women’s Day


Kolkata :In an era when society is fighting for gender equality, The Heritage Group of Institutions emphasized
this critical problem and highlighted it in a panel discussion on March
22, 202, . Heritage Group of Institutions cordially invited its students and members to
 this panel discussion on GENDER EQUALITY TODAY FOR A SUSTINABLE TOMORROW. The
guests of the panel discussion were: Ms. Rowan Ainsworth, Consul General of Australia, Mr. Didier
Talpain: Consul General of France, Dr. Rupali Basu; MD, Woodland Hospital, Ms. Kiran Uttam Ghosh;

International Designer, Ms. Seema Sapru; Principal The Heritage School and Dr. Madhupa
Bakshi; Dean The Heritage Academy. The event started with the mark of HGI’s undying tradition to
invite the almighty at the beginning of an important event by lighting ceremony, which was followed
by felicitations. The head of each Heritage Group Institution presented a brief message on gender
equality and welcomed the guests. Ms. Rowan Ainsworth, began her statement by stating that
celebrating Women’s Day on a single day while doing injustice to women on the other days by the
society, is never a good thing and ended on a note that how equity is also important with equality. Dr.
Rupali Basu spoke about her background and how it was evident to her and her siblings from a young
age that financial independence is important regardless of gender and she also mentioned,


“every
woman is the version of Goddess Durga, capable of doing multiple tasks
”. Mr. Didier Talpain spoke
on how, despite talents, women were pushed behind the curtains in the cultural sphere. Ms. Kiran
Uttam Ghosh, began her speech with self-humor, talking about how average she was in school but her
strong will got her to where she is now proving that anyone can succeed with the appropriate
determination and gave another example by mentioning her maid
’s daughter’s success in life. Ms.
Seema Sapru highlighted her old school thought process on gender equality but with the twist that
humans are capable of doing anything, thus chances should be given to everyone equally based on
their needs and skills.


The programme also witnessed the address of Sri prabir Roy, Director, Kalyan Bharti Trust, and address by Shri P .K. Agarwal , CEO , Heritage Group of Institutions.Dr. Madhupa Bakshi concluded the event by counter-questioning the guests
with facts, which was followed by audiences asking questions to the guests and the session ended with
the National Anthems of India, Australia and France.
