By A Staff Reporter : On Friday, the Union Cabinet took an important step in tackling malnutrition.The government has approved the supply of fortified rice in food projects in view of the poor health of children and women.The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the proposal.In this regard, Union Minister Anurag Tagore said that FCI and state agencies have already procured 88.65 LMT of protected rice for supply and distribution of rice. Until full implementation by June 2024, the center will bear the entire cost of paddy cultivation (about Rs 2,600 crore per annum) as part of food subsidy. The project will be implemented in three phases.
