About 130 wildfires have broken out across western Canada following a record-breaking heatwave followed by lightning. Canada's federal government said military aircraft will be pressed into service to help emergency workers battling to control the fires in British Columbia. Local authorities said people are fleeing the the village of Lytton in the province. Lytton, about 260 kilometers north-east of Vancouver recorded Canada's highest ever temperature of 49.6C on Tuesday was completely destroyed by fire forcing 250 odd residents to leave without their belongings.
