Asansol police chief tightens the noose, but can he stem the rot?

The new commissioner of police, Asansol-Durgapur police commissionerate (ADPC), N Sudhir Kumar has read the riot act to his officers. The heat is still on with CBI and ED investigating the Coal scam, Kumar has already censured three officers in charge of police stations. Sources close to ADPC mentioned that the new commissioner has been moving around in mufti to get a feel of the situation. ANM News has learnt that  Kumar often goes on  surprise visits to police stations and sensitive areas. Asansol has always been in the eye of the storm with multi thousand crore illegal Coal and sand scam pushing skeletons out of the cupboards. The CBI and ED are currently investigating the role of quite a few officers including a couple of IPS officers who had earlier served in ADPC for their role in the Coal scam.
