Wellington, Tamil Nadu | Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday underscored the importance of jointness and integration among India’s armed forces in response to the rapidly evolving nature of warfare. Speaking to student officers of the 80th Staff Course and permanent staff at the Defence Services Staff College, he highlighted emerging strategic challenges and the necessity of seamless coordination between military branches.

Gen Dwivedi noted that modern warfare is increasingly multidimensional, requiring enhanced cooperation among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. “The evolving nature of warfare demands jointness and synergy among the armed forces. Integration is key to maintaining operational effectiveness and national security in the face of dynamic threats,” he stated.

His remarks come at a time when India is focusing on strengthening its joint military doctrine and operational capabilities. The Chief of Defence Staff and the Ministry of Defence have been advocating integrated command structures to enhance strategic preparedness.

The Defence Services Staff College in Wellington plays a crucial role in grooming officers for higher leadership roles. Gen Dwivedi’s address aimed at reinforcing the importance of inter-service cooperation as India navigates complex security challenges in the region.
