Chandigarh: A crucial meeting between farmer leaders and Union Ministers took place in Chandigarh on Tuesday, focusing on the long-standing demand for a Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee law. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar, who was part of the discussions, stated that the meeting lasted for about three hours, during which key concerns were addressed.
"Today, we had a meeting with Union Ministers and Punjab ministers. At the start of the meeting, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he has deeply studied the information provided by us from authenticated sources in the ministry," Kohar said.
The discussions primarily revolved around the feasibility and framework of a legally binding MSP law, a core demand of the protesting farmers. Kohar emphasized that the government appeared well-prepared with data and analysis, but a concrete resolution was yet to be reached.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions between farmers and the Centre over agricultural policies. While the government has assured continued engagement on the issue, farmer unions remain firm on their demand for a legal guarantee on MSP to ensure fair prices for crops.
