New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday reiterated the importance of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, stressing that diplomacy must take precedence over conflict. Tharoor’s remarks align with India’s neutral stance on the war, advocating for dialogue rather than military escalation.

"Russia-Ukraine peace is absolutely important for the world, but as our PM said, peace cannot be found on the battlefield. It will have to require some negotiation," Tharoor stated. He acknowledged the early signs of diplomatic engagement between the warring sides but cautioned against premature conclusions.

"We are glad that some process has started already, but these are early days. We don't know if they are only talking about a ceasefire or whether there is going to be an enduring peace settlement... We have to wait and watch. I think the speculation here is very premature," he added.

Tharoor’s comments come amid growing international discussions on ending the prolonged conflict, which has had global economic and geopolitical repercussions. India has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution while maintaining strategic ties with both Russia and Ukraine.
