Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju addressed the media on the ongoing disruptions in Parliament, emphasizing the need for collective effort to ensure smooth functioning of the House. Rijiju highlighted the government’s commitment to facilitating legislative business and called for the cooperation of opposition parties.

“We are very open to discussions. We have already appealed to the opposition parties to join and run the House because it is a collective effort. The government puts up the bills and business schedules, but the cooperation of the opposition is necessary,” Rijiju stated.

The Union Minister specifically called out the Congress party, urging them to recognize the mandate given by the people to their MPs. “The people of India have voted for members to perform in Parliament, not to display physical strength or cause injury to others,” he remarked, referring to recent incidents of alleged misconduct.

Rijiju demanded an apology from Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of insulting the Constitution, damaging the legacy of Dr. BR Ambedkar, and engaging in behavior unbecoming of Parliamentarians. “Good sense should prevail within the Congress party. However, I don’t think Rahul Gandhi is corrigible or capable of improving his outlook in a positive manner,” he added.

The Minister’s comments come amid heightened tensions in Parliament, with both the ruling party and the opposition trading accusations over recent scuffles and legislative standoffs. As the session progresses, the government continues to urge a return to constructive dialogue and cooperation.
