Washington D.C. | Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his strong support for tariffs as a key economic policy tool, claiming they are essential to fixing what he describes as "massive financial deficits" with China, the European Union, and other major trading partners.

In a post on social media, Trump stated, “We have massive Financial Deficits with China, the European Union, and many others. The only way this problem can be cured is with TARIFFS, which are now bringing Tens of Billions of Dollars into the U.S.A.”

Calling tariffs “a beautiful thing to behold,” Trump credited them with generating significant revenue for the country. He criticized President Joe Biden for allowing trade surpluses with rival economies to grow, suggesting that the current administration has been soft on international trade issues. “The Surplus with these Countries has grown during the ‘Presidency’ of Sleepy Joe Biden. We are going to reverse it, and reverse it QUICKLY,” he wrote.
