Begusarai | As Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi visits Begusarai today, Union Minister and local MP Giriraj Singh launched a sharp critique, urging Gandhi to acknowledge Bihar’s development over the past two decades instead of sowing confusion.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Singh remarked, “He should first check his own migration. He should come, take a tour, create confusion, but he should also see the difference in Bihar before 2005 and after 2005.” He credited the NDA governments at the state and central levels for major improvements in infrastructure, road connectivity, and employment generation.
“Eight lakh people got jobs. Roads have been built. Infrastructure has been uplifted. The Bihar of today is not what it used to be,” Singh said, defending the state’s progress under BJP-led leadership.
Taking a swipe at Gandhi’s lineage and political legacy, Singh recalled that Rahul Gandhi’s father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, had spoken about establishing a petrochemicals industry in Begusarai as far back as 1985. “Modi government made the refinery. Petrochemical industries are now being built. What will he see today?” Singh asked pointedly.
He also mocked Gandhi’s choice of attire, stating, “He hates saffron, that is why he chose white colour.” The statement comes amid an ongoing political war of words between the BJP and Congress, with both parties intensifying their campaigns ahead of the upcoming general elections.
