New Delhi | Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government, alleging that despite its claims of implementing welfare guarantees, it has been steadily increasing the prices of essential commodities.

“For almost two years since the Congress government took charge in Karnataka, the prices of essential items such as milk, petrol, registration charges, liquor, and vehicle tax have been continuously increasing. On one hand, they keep talking about guarantees and showcasing their schemes, but on the other hand, they are taking everything away,” Joshi stated.

He further claimed that while the government claims to be spending ₹50,000 crore on guarantees, it is actually generating ₹60,000-70,000 crore through these price hikes. His remarks come amid ongoing political debates over the financial sustainability of Karnataka’s welfare schemes.
