NEW DELHI: The Chief Justice of India has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma, a sitting judge of the Delhi High Court, according to a press release issued by the Supreme Court.

The committee comprises Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court; Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court; and Justice Anu Sivaraman, Judge of the Karnataka High Court. The panel has been tasked with conducting a detailed inquiry into the allegations against Justice Varma.

Pending the investigation, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has been directed not to assign any judicial work to Justice Varma. The Supreme Court further stated that the report submitted by the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, along with Justice Varma’s response and other relevant documents, will be made publicly accessible on the Supreme Court’s website.

The nature of the allegations remains undisclosed, but the formation of the committee underscores the judiciary’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Further developments in the case are awaited.
