New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar has launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of leveraging religious figures for electoral gains. Speaking in Delhi, Majumdar claimed that Muslim cleric Toha Siddique has been working for Banerjee and plays a role in consolidating Muslim votes in the state.

"Toha Siddique has been working for Mamata Banerjee for quite some time now and helps in consolidating Muslim votes. He has received a lot in return, though we are not getting into the details. This is nothing new, and Mamata Banerjee makes use of these communal powers during elections," Majumdar alleged.

His statement comes amid ongoing political tensions in West Bengal, where religious and identity politics have been central to election narratives. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has frequently faced accusations from the opposition of minority appeasement, a charge Banerjee has consistently denied, asserting her commitment to secularism.

Majumdar also weighed in on the RG Kar Medical College case, where concerns have been raised over alleged wrongdoing. He accused the West Bengal Police of deliberately erasing crucial evidence.

"The police have erased all evidence. I don't think anyone will be able to find anything in this case. This is what I have been saying. As per the information I received, all evidence to designate a persona as a criminal has been erased," he said.
