Train Services Between India and Bangladesh Halted Amid Protests

Kolkata: In response to ongoing countrywide protests in Bangladesh against job quotas, Eastern Railway CPRO Kaushik Mitra announced the cancellation of train services between India and Bangladesh.

"Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express has been cancelled. Bandhan Express, which runs on Sunday, has also been stopped," Mitra stated, indicating the suspension of both services due to the unrest. "In talks with the Bangladesh government, we have cancelled this train. Bandhan Express will not run on Sunday."

Mitra also addressed the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of these services. "There is no information yet as to when the train services between India and Bangladesh will resume. We hope that these train services will start soon and our brotherly relations will continue," he added, expressing hope for a swift resolution to the situation.
