By Avideep Nandi Majumdar: A 79th strike from Norwich City star Teemu Pukki helped Norwich city claim a crucial point against Newcastle and continue their unbeaten run under new manager Dean Smith.
In the 7th minute,Newcastles Hope's of claiming a first win of the season were dealt a severe blow when Ciaran Clark was sent off for bringing down Pukki while he was through on goal. Chelsea loanee Gilmours freekick was comfortably saved by the newcastle goalie Martin Dubralka.A while later Newcastle had a sniff at goal but Brazilian Joelinton blazed over the bar.Callum Wilson also blazed one in the 32nd minute.The first half ended goalless.
In the 59th minute a corner from the right hit the outstretched hand of Billy Gilmour and Newcastle players appealed to the referee.He had a long look and decided to give a penalty,much to the delight of the home fans.Callum Wilson opened the scoring from the spot.Norwich then began knocking on the door but Newcastle had 2 more chances to kill the game off.Saint Maximin blasted over and Haydens attempt from a Callum Wilson cross went past the post.They were made to regret the chance as Pukki equalised from close range.Norwich even had the change to win the game but Lee Melou was denied in stoppage time by a wonderful save from the Newcastle goalkeeper.
