Kolkata — Amid escalating tensions over recent violence in Murshidabad during a protest against the Waqf Amendment Act, West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led state government, accusing it of deliberate inaction and communal provocation.

Speaking to the media, Majumdar alleged, “The police are doing nothing and are keeping quiet on the direction of Mamata Banerjee. She is trying to create a Bangladesh here by threatening Hindus, but Hindus have always fought, and they will continue to do so.”

The remarks follow violent incidents in Murshidabad, where protests reportedly turned unruly. The BJP has claimed that the state administration failed to act swiftly, allowing the situation to spiral. While there has been no official response from the West Bengal government yet, the issue has ignited a fierce political storm.

Majumdar also confirmed that the central leadership is actively monitoring the developments. “We are in contact with Delhi, and the Union Home Minister is aware of everything,” he stated, hinting at possible central intervention if the situation is not brought under control.
