By Chandrayee Roy Choudhury, Canada: After an extreme cold snap gripped Calgary and much of the province, warmer weather is set to return next week.
Calgarians will still have to bundle up for a few more days, as Environment Canada’s current seven-day forecast is showing daily high temperatures to remain around -20 C until Sunday.
But by Monday, temperatures could reach 14 C in Calgary. The following day will bring much of the same, with the forecast calling for a high of 12 C. The Weather Network’s 14-day forecast predicts the warm weather will stay until at least Jan. 15, and temperatures are then only expected to drop to the -10 C range.
Sara Hoffman, meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, said while the weather will be nicer, some of the forecasts may be a little warmer than what Calgarians will actually see.
According to Hoffman, December was the 14th coldest month in the 139 years statistics have been tracked.
