On June 22, 2021 at around 0830 hrs, South Bengal Frontier, BSF troops conducted a search operation near the Indo-Bangladesh International Border and apprehended a smuggler with 24 bottles of liquor and 30 kg of fertilizer. The value of the seized goods is Rs 23,520/-. These goods were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh from the area of responsibility of 35 Battalion, Border Out Post Atrosia, Murshidabad district.
On 22 June, 2021 acting on specific information of Intelligence Branch, troops of Border Out Post Atrosia, 35 Battalion laid an ambush near International Border (IB). Around 0830hrs, the smuggler was seen coming from India towards the International Border. When the smuggler was stopped and searched, 24 bottles of liquor and 30 kg of fertilizer were recovered from the possession him. The troops immediately arrested him and brought him to the Border Out Post for further questioning.
The arrested smuggler identified as Kazirul Sheikh, (age 17 years), S/o- Durul Sheikh, Village- Atrosia, Post-Bilborakhopra, Police Station- Lalgola, District- Murshidabad.
The arrested smuggler has been admitted during interrogation that he had taken these goods from Zahirul Islam, S/o – Majbur Rahman, village-Atrosia Post-Bilborkhpora, District- Murshidabad and he was to be handed over these goods to Kabir Islam, S/o- Anarul Hussain, village Boucher, Post-Elatoli, PS-Chapainwabganj(Bangladesh).
The arrested smuggler and the seized goods have been handed over to the police station Lalgola for further legal action.
Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Officiating Commanding Officer of 35 Battalion stated that the BSF is taking the strictest measures to stop the smuggling of banned goods along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Consequently, the persons involved in such crimes are facing a lot of hardship and some of them are being caught and punished as per the law.
