KOLKATA (22/4)Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy, organized a Talk on 'Principles of PR- Old & New' on 21st April 2022 which was addressed by the PR legends Ms. Rita Bhimani, CEO, Ritam Communications and Mr. Biswajit Matilal, Vice President- Corporate Communication, Birla Corporation. Ltd.
Both the speakers elaborated on the basic principles of PR framed by 'the Father of Corporate PR' Mr. Arthur W Page who was the Vice President and Director of AT&T from 1927 till 1947.
During her address, Ms. Rita Bhimani spoke about the role of PR in sharing credible information to the stakeholders of an organization. Moreover she also stressed on the fact that PR people have to grow the relationship with the media not by giving gifts but by giving them stories which they love to accept. "They must treat the PR people as a vital source of information which can help them to write the stories much relevant to the current situation," said Ms. Rita Bhimani.
Mr. Biswajit Matilal spoke about the way a PR person should convince the media by giving them a satisfying answer. Citing some examples from his experience, he said that good gestures with media people and maintaining cordial relationships with the stakeholders of the organization are some of the ingredients of good PR.
"Don't evade or avoid but give satisfying answer to convince the media," said Mr. Matilal.
The event also witnessed the presence of Dr. Gour Banerjee, Principal, The Heritage Academy and Dr, Madhupa Bakshi, Dean, Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy.
