New Delhi: A delegation of five European climate envoys is currently in India for high-level discussions on climate action, signaling Europe's strong focus on collaboration with India ahead of COP 2025 in Belem, Brazil.
Speaking on the visit, German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann emphasized the importance of the dialogue, describing it as part of a crucial effort to align strategies and identify areas of common interest in tackling climate change. "Tonight's climate talk was in the framework of a very important visit," Ackermann said. "Europe has a clear focus on India when it comes to our common efforts to mitigate climate change."
The discussions highlighted India's growing role in renewable energy investments, with a particular emphasis on the private sector’s bold initiatives in the field. "One element that was particularly important tonight was the role of the private sector in India, which is globally very active and bold when it comes to investment in renewable energies," Ackermann noted.
