Bharat Electronics signed an agreement with HAL

By A Staff Reporter : Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has announced that it will conclude an agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).The agreement was reached for the co-development and co-production of the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet's long-range dual-band infra-red search and track system (IRST).The agreement was signed under the MAKE-II system of Defense Acquisition Process (DAP) 2020 as part of the 'Make in India' initiative.The proposed IRST system will be a high-end strategic technology product in the field of defense avionics and will compete technically with existing IRST systems in the global market, with features such as television day cameras, infrared and laser sensors for single-to-air windows. Air and air-to-ground target tracking and localization, ”HAL said in a statement.The system is expected to enhance the excellence of Indian Air Force aircraft. The merger of the two defense PSUs for the development of a technically critical IRST inspires a 'self-reliant India' in the defense sector, the statement said.
