New Delhi: A delegation from the National Confederation of OBC Employees' Welfare Associations (NCOBC) met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to discuss concerns regarding the representation of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in central government jobs and public sector undertakings (PSUs).
During the meeting, the delegation members detailed the challenges faced by OBC employees, emphasizing the need for better implementation of reservation policies, increased opportunities in government sectors, and fair promotions in PSUs. They expressed concerns over the alleged underrepresentation of OBC candidates in key positions despite existing policies.
Rahul Gandhi assured the delegation that their issues would be taken seriously and addressed at appropriate forums. He reiterated his commitment to social justice and the empowerment of backward communities, emphasizing that equitable representation is essential for an inclusive and progressive nation.
The meeting comes at a time when discussions on OBC reservations and representation in government institutions have gained political traction. The delegation urged the government to take proactive measures to ensure that OBC employees receive their rightful share of opportunities in public services.
The NCOBC has been actively advocating for OBC welfare and has sought policy interventions to address disparities in employment and promotions. Their meeting with Rahul Gandhi marks a significant step in bringing these issues to the forefront of national political discourse.
