U.S. Secretary of State: Food insecurity increased "dramatically" due to Russia's war in Ukraine

By a Staff Reporter: Us Secretary of State Antony Blinken blamed Russia's aggression in Ukraine, saying "another 40 million people have added to those who suffer from food insecurity". "There was a pre-existing condition as was the case with food insecurity in many places. This has been dramatically intensified by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, adding another 40 million people to those suffering from food insecurity," Blinken said ahead of his meeting with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bhutto Zardari. Blinken is in New York to attend a cabinet on food safety in the afternoon. "We're coming together... To address the problem of food insecurity, to see the concrete steps we can take to help those in need around the world," Blinken said.
