A white gunman accused of targeting and killing 10 black men and injuring three others at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, was indicted by a federal grand jury on hate crimes and firearms
charges on Thursday, the US Justice Department said. Payton Gendron, now 19, faces 27 charges - including 10 hate crimes resulting in death and three hate crimes involving attempted murder and 13 counts of using, carrying or discharging a firearm - after the fatal racist attack on the best supermarket in a mostly black neighborhood. "The Department of Justice fully recognizes the threat that white-collar violence poses to the security of the American people and American democracy," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a press release.
