New Delhi: The Centre has filed an application in the Supreme Court concerning the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal. The application highlights significant challenges faced by the CISF personnel due to a lack of basic facilities such as accommodation, security gadgets, and transportation.

In its plea, the Centre has sought the Supreme Court's direction to the West Bengal government to extend full cooperation to the CISF personnel, ensuring compliance with the court's order dated August 20, 2024. The Centre argues that the state government’s failure to provide the necessary support is hindering the CISF's ability to perform their duties effectively.

The Centre further warned that if West Bengal does not comply with the Supreme Court's order in both letter and spirit, it could face contempt proceedings for willful non-compliance. The application underscores the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action to address the operational difficulties faced by the CISF personnel at the medical college.

This move by the Centre reflects the ongoing friction between the central and state governments over the management and security arrangements at RG Kar Medical College, emphasizing the importance of inter-governmental cooperation in ensuring law and order.
