New Delhi, April 5 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP-II), calling it a transformative move for enhancing the quality of life in India's border regions.
In a social media post, PM Modi stated, “The Cabinet decision on Vibrant Villages Programme-II is exceptional news for ensuring a better quality of life for our border villages. With this approval, we are also expanding the scope of the villages covered compared to Vibrant Villages Programme-I.”

Launched initially in 2023, the Vibrant Villages Programme aims to bring all-weather connectivity, sustainable livelihoods, modern infrastructure, and essential services to remote villages along India’s northern border, including areas in Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Ladakh.
