Delhi | Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday flagged off three major mountaineering expeditions, marking a significant boost to adventure sports and bilateral cooperation with Nepal. The flagged-off missions include the Indo-Nepal joint expedition to Mount Kanchenjunga, the Indian Army’s expedition to Mount Everest, and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) boys and girls expeditions.
Addressing the event, Singh highlighted the role of such initiatives in strengthening military preparedness, fostering international partnerships, and promoting the spirit of adventure among youth. "These expeditions not only test human endurance but also symbolize our strong ties with Nepal and our commitment to nurturing young talent," he said.
The Indo-Nepal expedition to Kanchenjunga will see mountaineers from both nations collaborating to scale the world's third-highest peak. Meanwhile, the Indian Army expedition to Everest is part of its longstanding tradition of high-altitude mountaineering. The NCC boys and girls teams will embark on their own rigorous climb, fostering leadership and resilience among the cadets.
