Delhi | Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar on Friday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of creating tension around the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations, raising concerns over potential violence.

“Ram Navami should be conducted peacefully, but Mamata Banerjee is trying to create tension during the celebrations,” Majumdar alleged.

Referring to last year’s incidents, where stones were thrown at Ram Navami processions, Majumdar warned of similar disturbances this year. “There are concerns that it might happen again. I want to question Mamata Banerjee and so-called secular leaders on this matter,” he added.

Ram Navami processions in West Bengal have witnessed clashes in the past, leading to political blame games between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). While the BJP claims the state government is deliberately stoking tensions, the TMC has accused the BJP of provoking communal discord.
