New Delhi: Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday made a special request to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, seeking better connectivity for his native village, Tithana, in Haryana.
Addressing a gathering, Dhankhar expressed his personal connection to the region and emphasized the benefits of linking Tithana to the national highway network. “It is my great fortune that I was born in Tithana village of Haryana and I did my schooling there too. It is a request that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari should consider that the area should be connected with a national highway. It will benefit the people traveling to Delhi greatly,” he said.
The request highlights the growing demand for improved infrastructure in smaller towns and villages, ensuring seamless connectivity to major urban centers. Given Gadkari’s focus on expanding India’s highway network, the proposal could receive serious consideration.
While there has been no official response from the ministry yet, experts believe such a move would boost regional development, enhance transportation efficiency, and improve access to the national capital. The request aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to strengthen rural connectivity and facilitate economic growth in semi-urban areas.
