By Rupanjal Chauhan: Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Jharkhand’s ruling party JMM’s MLA, has resigned from the state assembly according to a notice on Monday. The Gandey constituency is vacant with effect from 31st December 2023.
The ex-MLA has not cited any reasons for his resignation yet. On the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato states, "He has submitted his resignation to me. I have informed the Assembly Secretariat, and the concerned departments will also be informed. He has resigned citing personal reasons." Source- ANI.
Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed embarked on his political journey as a member of the Congress. In the 2019 assembly elections, he secured a seat under the coalition government of JMM and Congress. However, despite his victory, he did not assume a ministerial role.
The assembly elections will be held in Jharkhand later this year.
