BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent statement, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday supported the Citizenship Amendment Act (Rules) 2024 and remarked that it is a logical progression.
Bose emphasized that the CAA has been passed by the Parliament of India. Thereby, rules and regulations are being prepared for the same. He further asserted that the move is a logical progression of the governance system. Moreover, Bose stressed that Bengal deserves peace and harmony and the message is being conveyed by the deployment of Central Forces in the state. He asserted that 'rowdyism', which is happening under a few pockets of the state, will not be permitted.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the rules of the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019). Furthermore, the newly implemented CAA will be called the 'Citizenship Amendment Act (Rules) 2024'. The Act aims to grant Indian Citizenship to the refugees and migrants belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, Jain, and Christian communities who arrived in India before 31st December 2014 and faced persecution in their homelands.
