Gangster Derek 'Bottler' Devoy caught with a phone again

Ananya Saha: Notorious gangster Derek 'Bottler' Devoy has been moved out of Portlaoise maximum security

prison for six weeks after being caught with a mobile phone behind bars for the second time in just

six months.

Devoy, who sources say is close to jailed dissident Sean Connolly, was caught with a mobile phone in

C Wing of the prison in mid-May. After the device was handed over to gardai, he was taken to

Limerick Prison before being returned to Portlaoise last week.

In recent weeks, sources have drawn attention to the increased incidence of drugs and contraband

phones in Ireland's prison.
