10-man Brazil earns edgy 1-0 win over Chile

​By a staff reporter: Lucas Paqueta's goal in the 47th minute sees Brazil through to the Copa America 2021 semifinal as the defending champion beats Chile 1-0. Brazil was reduced to 10 men right after Paqueta's goal and did well to stave off the relentless Chilean attack. The Selecao will take on Peru in the semifinal.Chile had greater ball possession and was watertight in defence for most parts of the game. The 2015 champion even had a goal ruled out n the 62nd minute when Eduardo Vargas' header was ruled offside.Brazil defended doggedly to hold on to its slender lead and kept its unbeaten run in Copa America 2021 intact. The result also means that Brazil has won its last five games against Chile in the Copa America. The Brazilians have scored 12 goals in this period while only conceding once.
