The government has cut duty and agriculture infrastructure cess on imports of masur, as per a notification tabled in the Parliament. The move aims to shore up supply and moderate the prices in domestic markets.

Agri cess on masur has been cut to 10% from 20%, while import duty on the pulse originating from the US is reduced to 20% from 30% currently.

The government cut import duty on masur from nations other than the US to nil from 10%.
