Indian cricket team’s veteran pacer Mohammed Shami is set to feature in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, confirmed India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak ahead of the second ODI against England. Speaking at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, Kotak stated that Shami is fully fit and ready to deliver strong performances in the prestigious tournament.
Despite this positive update, Indian team sources suggest that left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will be included in the playing XI for the second ODI, with Shami being rested. However, his absence from the match does not impact his place in the squad for the Champions Trophy, where he is expected to play a key role.

Shami had recently returned to the Indian team for the T20I series against England, where he featured in two matches, picking up three wickets at an impressive average of 16.67. He also played in the first ODI in Nagpur, delivering a disciplined spell of 8 overs, conceding 38 runs with one wicket, including a maiden over.
