LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the organization of the Maha Kumbh 2025, labeling it as a major example of mismanagement. Speaking about the event, he pointed out several shortcomings, especially in terms of the safety and convenience of the devotees.

“If there will be the biggest story of mismanagement... I remember the Kumbh in 2013, when Harvard University had prepared a report on it, which has been documented. The mismanagement was not to such extent; it was organized on a lesser budget,” Yadav said. He emphasized that despite the large-scale advertisements and the involvement of both state and central governments, the 2025 event faced serious logistical issues.

He highlighted the chaos faced by devotees, including stampedes, blocked roads, delayed trains, and people being forced to spend the night in their cars. “Yet people died in stampedes. People spent nights in their cars, roads remained blocked, trains could not reach on time, and still, people lost their lives,” Yadav added.

The SP leader further criticized the government for its role in the tragedy, stating, “This government has taken the lives of so many people in the name of Kumbh.” His comments reflect growing opposition concerns regarding the safety measures and overall management of the event, calling for urgent accountability from the authorities.
