Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday inaugurated an auditorium at Bhonsala Military School, dedicated to the late General Bipin Rawat, India's first Chief of Defence Staff. The event also saw the unveiling of a statue of BS Moonje, the school’s founder.
Addressing the gathering, Fadnavis highlighted the significance of honoring national heroes. "I am happy that at Bhonsala Military School, we are remembering two individuals who gave a new direction to our lives. Warriors are not grieved; they are celebrated. The same celebration is happening here as we inaugurate an auditorium in Gen Bipin Rawat's name," he said.
Fadnavis also reflected on Moonje’s role in shaping military education during the fight for independence. "When Moonje was founding this school, the struggle for independence was ongoing. Many saw freedom as a short-term goal, but true independence means never returning to slavery. We must fight a war that ensures lasting freedom," he remarked.
