Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has come out in defense of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent remarks regarding the BJP’s misuse of Hinduism. Banerjee had criticized the BJP’s portrayal of Hinduism as a tool for political manipulation, which she claimed was “distorting” the religion.
"What CM said is absolutely correct; the BJP is distorting and trying to create a false narrative," Ghosh stated. He emphasized that the TMC supports the original Hinduism practiced by figures like Swami Vivekananda and Ramkrishna Paramhans.
Ghosh also took aim at the BJP’s political strategy, claiming that the party’s use of Hinduism for vote bank politics and divisive tactics is harmful. "What BJP is doing is biased politics, vote marketing, and trying to divide Hindus. We don’t support the distorted Hinduism; we support the original Hinduism," he asserted.
Defending Mamata Banerjee’s secular stance, Ghosh pointed out that Banerjee, who hails from a Brahmin family, supports people of all religions and remains committed to a secular approach. "Mamata Banerjee is secular and supports people from all religions. BJP uses Hinduism to polarize," he added.
