Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has hailed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state as a historic moment for India. Addressing the landmark reform, Dhami emphasized that the country had been waiting for such a law since Independence.
"The country was waiting for this law since Independence. Now, under the leadership of PM Modi, it has been implemented in 'devbhoomi' Uttarakhand. It will benefit people, and it was implemented in January," Dhami stated.

The UCC aims to standardize personal laws across various communities, ensuring equal treatment for all citizens, irrespective of their religion. Dhami compared the UCC’s impact to that of the Ganga River, which originates in Uttarakhand and sustains the entire country. He expressed confidence that the UCC would eventually be adopted nationwide.
"This will be implemented across India, just as the Ganga gives life to the entire country," he added, highlighting the far-reaching significance of the law.
