New Delhi: India has the potential to emerge as a significant player in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry, according to Julien Manhes, Head of SAF & CDR Development Sustainability Organization at Airbus.

Speaking exclusively to PTI at the Airbus Summit 2025, Manhes highlighted India's advantages in SAF production, including abundant feedstock, a growing aviation sector, and strong innovation capabilities. "India has a great potential and is very well placed to become a SAF producer," he said.

With global aviation increasingly focusing on sustainability, SAF is seen as a crucial solution to reducing carbon emissions. India’s expanding aviation market makes it an ideal candidate for SAF adoption and production. However, Manhes also stressed the importance of keeping fuel prices affordable. "We need traffic to continue growing in India, and we don't want airlines to pay too much for fuel because that would impact the ticket price," he noted.
