During a public event in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi criticized National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, accusing him of misleading the public with contradictory statements. Ilmi highlighted the shift in the political landscape, emphasizing that in today’s era of social media, attempts to deceive the public would no longer be effective. "What does Omar Abdullah think? The time is gone when he used to say one thing in Srinagar and another in Jammu. This is the age of social media, and your lies will not work," she said.
Ilmi further pointed out the significant changes in Jammu and Kashmir's electoral process. Referring to past accusations of election rigging, she praised the current system for its transparency, asserting that the region is now experiencing free and fair voting. "In Jammu and Kashmir, earlier there was rigging of elections, but today votes are being cast with complete transparency," she noted.
According to Ilmi, this newfound openness in the electoral process is a cause for celebration, with people from around the world observing the progress being made in the region’s democratic framework. She expressed confidence that the days of manipulative politics were over, adding that Omar Abdullah’s tactics would no longer work in the current environment of political accountability.
