New Delhi: Congress leader Supriya Shrinate launched a scathing attack on BJP's Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, criticizing his remarks against wrestler Vinesh Phogat and six other women who have accused him of sexual harassment. Shrinate expressed her outrage at how Singh, despite being chargesheeted, continues to receive a political platform and significant media coverage.
Shrinate stated, "I feel ashamed that a man with serious sexual harassment allegations is repeatedly given a platform. He continues to speak against Vinesh Phogat, but we must remember that six other women have also accused him. Have those allegations disappeared?" She further accused the Modi government and Delhi Police of protecting Singh instead of holding him accountable.
Highlighting Vinesh Phogat’s perseverance, Shrinate praised her bravery and resilience. "After being dragged and stomped during her fight for justice, Vinesh still represented the country and nearly won a gold medal at the Olympics. She deserves recognition, not character assassination," Shrinate asserted.
She also criticized the media for repeatedly giving Singh space to speak, accusing them of prioritizing sensationalism over justice. "The media seems to believe there is 'masala' in this story, but at what cost?" Shrinate asked, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations against Singh.
Concluding her remarks, Shrinate predicted that Singh’s comments will only bolster support for Vinesh Phogat in Haryana’s upcoming elections. "Brij Bhushan is ensuring our victory. Vinesh Phogat will become an MLA, and this is the justice of time and God," she declared
